Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

2012 - 02.13

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a combat sport and martial art which focuses on submission-based grappling (ground fighting). It has evolved considerably over the last century: beginning with Kodokan Judo, then taking a new shape within the Gracie family, and finally to the UFC-polished form that we see today. Even still, adaptations to the art are made every day to tailor its effectiveness both in competition, and on the streets. As a result of this constant changing of the art, many brands have emerged. Our brand, Pitbull Jiu-Jitsu, was pioneered by 6th degree BJJ black-belt Adilson “Bitta” Lima, and passed on to Tom Cissero, who strives to instill the fighting spirit of Pitbull Jiu-Jitsu in all of his students.
